He's Baaack!!

Tim and I stared at each other and back at him. Inside our heads, we were screaming, "Noooooo!!". Outwardly, we looked calm and I said, "We weren't prepared to have this discussion today. Give us some time to think about this".

The "this" was our Lil' Darlin's request to move back home. Our home.

"That boy wants to move back into our house!", I said when he'd left. Tim just nodded. "Seriously?", I said, all the while hoping I had misunderstood.

He was serious. I did not misunderstand. And we didn't really have a choice. Did we? There goes my scrapbooking room! There goes Tim's closet space!! And mine, by default!!! Isn't it enough that I gave him life and breast fed him -- must I give up my closet space too?!

You know we love our Lil' Darlin' -- it's just that we have become accustomed to loving him from afar. We've become accustomed to being "empty nesters". We played our music, watched our television shows, ate our food, and entertained our friends. We did all the things parents do when their kids are gone -- run with scissors, hold the refrigerator door wide open, leave our clothes in the washer/dryer, drink from the container, etc. We did that other thing, too.

Now, we need to acclimate ourselves to our "boomerang kid". That's what they call adult children who return home to live with their parents. Did you know that not all boomerangs are returning boomerangs? Why can't we have that kind of boomerang kid -- leaves and never returns (except for pre-arranged visits)?

The upside is that there will be plenty of stuff to blog about. I'm sure there are other 'upsides', I just can't think of any right now.

  1. What "extra" time?! Do you really think an almost-21-year-old boy is planning to spend time with his parents?! Chile', please!

On a serious note. . .I'm only half-lamenting his return. PlanetSandra is just where I go to let the Drama Queen in me have her way.

In order to make room for his stuff and our re-located stuff, he's going to help me clean the garage -- WhooHoo! I'm sure that will be a bonding experience.
